GridSpy is a daily word puzzle game where you solve clues to find hidden words in a 12×12 letter grid. The twist? Most of the grid starts hidden, and only reveals itself as you discover words. Each day features a different theme with 12 words to find, plus a bonus hero word challenge.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Read the Clues
You'll start with 12 clues displayed on the right side of the screen. Each clue describes one hidden word in today's themed puzzle. For example, if today's theme is "Travel & Geography," a clue might be "Capital city of France" (answer: PARIS).
Look at the Grid
The 12×12 letter grid starts mostly hidden. Only a few letters are visible to get you started. The hidden areas appear as fog, creating the mystery you need to solve.
Find a Word
When you think you've spotted a word, drag your finger (or mouse) across the letters to select it. Words can run in three directions:
- Horizontally (left to right) →
- Vertically (top to bottom) ↓
- Diagonally (top-left to bottom-right) ↘
If you've selected the correct word, it will be marked as found and the clue will be crossed off.

Here's where GridSpy gets interesting! Each time you find a word, the fog clears around it, revealing more letters. This makes subsequent words easier to find as more of the grid becomes visible. Strategy tip: finding longer words reveals more of the grid.
Use Hints When Stuck
Can't find a word? No problem! Click the "Hint" button to get help. You'll watch a short advertisement (maximum 10 seconds with countdown), and then the first letter of a word you haven't found yet will be revealed. You can use multiple hints if needed.
Complete the Hero Word Challenge
Once you've found all 12 words, you unlock the bonus hero word challenge! You'll get a clue for one final word, and you must spell it using only letters from the words you've already found. It's a fun way to test your memory and observation skills.
